Meet Blue Springs Mayoral Candidate Dale Carter
Dale Carter was born in 1963 in Evansville, Indiana, and in 1988, he graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science.
A Blue Springs resident since 1995, Dale Carter was elected to the Blue Springs District 1 council seat in April 2010. In his nine year tenure as Councilman, he was a strong advocate for the Blue Springs School District and deeply involved in the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan Advisory Board for the Blue Springs School District as well as the Advisory Board for the Blue Springs Education Foundation.
He also served as the council liaison to the Parks Commission, the steering committee for the proposed Community Center, the Public Safety Citizens’ Advisory Board and Planning Commission and as council liaison to the Solid Waste and Public Arts Commissions. In addition, Carter served on the steering committee for the Comprehensive Plan and Unified Development Code reviews. Dale brings the same commitment to his community as he has for decades to his prolific career in the country music industry.
He started his professional radio career in 1979, and he quickly moved up the ranks and is the host of the Dale Carter Morning Show on KFKF, 94.1FM and Program Director for the station. Within his professional field, he has served on the National Board of Directors for Country Radio Broadcasters. Philanthropically, he is one of the driving forces behind the annual “Country Cares St. Jude Radiothon” that has raised millions of dollars for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In 2018, Carter was named On-Air Personality of the Year for large market by the Academy of Country Music, one of the industry’s most prestigious honors. His storied career also netted him an induction into the Country Radio Hall of Fame in 2011. He was the youngest ever inductee.
Carter is passionate about football and is in his 11th year as the stadium voice for the Kansas City Chiefs; he was also honored to spend ten years as the radio voice for Blue Springs and Blue Springs South High School Football.
Dale has four children, Andrew, Nicholas, Matthew and Jonathan, as well as three grandchildren.
Carter’s top priorities include supporting local business development, attracting new jobs and reinvesting in infrastructure to continue making Blue Springs a great place to live, play and work!
